Bulgarian Mountain resorts
Rugged snow-capped peaks and soft green slopes, cool forests carrying the aroma of herbs and wild fruit, quick-flowing rivers and crystal-clear blue lakes, mineral springs and bioreserves, rare plants and game, large climatic and ski resorts and small picturesque villages with living traditions and folklore every Bulgarian mountain has its own characteristic appearance, fascination and beautiful name. With Bulgaria's mountain pearl of Bansko growing too fast, the mayor has started to direct investors to nearby villages, hoping to create a mega-resort spreading between several settlements.
The future mega-resort will have over 100,000 beds and 160 kilometres of tracks, finally finding a way to dominate over Bulgaria's other two most popular skiing places - Borovets and Pamporovo.
Over 400,000 square meters of hotels and apartments are already rising in Bansko, Standart daily reports, and there are just a few vacant slots that could be built upon.
Seeing the surge of demand, Bansko's Mayor Alexander Kravarov came up with the "Super Bansko" idea and started diverting investors towards nearby Razlog and Dobrinishte. Interest is rising and Razlog is already expecting projects for some EUR 600 M to EUR 700 M, and about 60 kilometres of new tracks.

Clima & temperature in Bulgaria

Bulgaria is situated in the moderate climatic zone. The country can be conditionally divided into two climatic zones. The StaraPlaninaMountain is considered the watershed between them. Winters are colder in Northern Bulgaria and much milder in the Southern part of the country. Winter temperatures vary between 0° and 7°C below zero. Very rarely temperatures may drop below 20°C below zero. Typical continental and changeable is the climate in spring. It is exceptionally favourable for the growth of fruit-bearing trees, for whose fruit Bulgaria has been renowned in Europe for centuries. Summer is hot and sweltering in Northern Bulgaria, especially along the DanubeRiver.
The climate in Southern Bulgaria is determined by the air-currents from the Mediterranean. Summer temperatures do not reach the extremes as in Dobroudzha and along the Danube and are usually moderate: about 28°-30°C. The highest readings are usually taken in the towns of Rousse and Silistra, sometimes reaching above 35°C. Autumns are mild and pleasant in Bulgaria. The multi-coloured for-ests in autumn add to the picturesque landscape. Autumn showers in principle are more frequent than in spring. May, October and November are the rainiest months.
